New president of Gordon’s Window Décor appointed

Locally owned and family-run Gordon’s Window Décor is pleased to announce the appointment of Kelly Conklin as President of the company, effective February 10, 2015. She succeeds her father, Gordon Clements, who is retiring after founding the company in 1986.

Gordon Clements made the official announcement over a company pie party, culminating his 29 years as President with a ceremonial passing of the torch to his youngest daughter. Clements will stay involved in company projects, but looks forward to more time with his grandchildren as well as skiing, spending time on the lake, and enjoying all that Vermont has to offer.

Clements started Gordon’s Window Décor as a one-man operation from his basement. His years of devotion to the responsible and dependable growth of Gordon’s Window Décor leaves the company on sturdy ground as he hands the position to Conklin with great satisfaction and pride.

“We have worked together 12 years now so I have had plenty of chance to see that Kelly has an innate sense as to what is right and how to deal with vastly differing business situations,” said Clements during his speech. “I, and many of my contemporaries, have come to recognize her wisdom, fairness, values, analytical and communication skills.”

Kelly Conklin, previously the company’s Chief Operating Officer and the Retail Manager prior to that, has become recognized as a “Rising Star” business leader on the state and national level. In her time as COO she continued to manage the retail team while simultaneously learning the intricacies of the business in preparation for her transition to Presidency.

“The idea of filling shoes as big as my dad's is pretty daunting,” Conklin said, “but with the passion I have for this company and the direction it's headed along with our incredibly talented team I have no doubt that we are going to take this company to the next level.”
