Michael Huyler, a resident of Sheldon Springs, Vt., recently received a $2,000 scholarship from the Vermont Society of Land Surveyors Education Foundation.
The foundation awards the s each year to an outstanding student or recent graduate of an accredited land or geodetic surveying program. The scholarship committee selects candidates based on their academic performance and potential for future contributions to the land surveying profession.
Mr. Huyler is a 2014 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Paul Smith’s College in Brighton, N.Y. While at Paul Smith’s, he maintained a 3.90 grade point average and was awarded the honor of “Adirondack Scholar.” He also completed a 240-hour surveying externship with the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources. He currently works at Cross Consulting Engineers in St. Albans, Vt.
Brad Holden, VSLS President, presented the award during a recent meeting at the Capitol Plaza Hotel and Conference Center in Montpelier, Vt.
The Vermont Society of Land Surveyors is a nonprofit membership organization that works to advance the sciences of surveying and mapping and to maintain high professional standards in the practice of surveying and mapping.
