Grafton Village Cheese Company announces the hire of cheese industry veteran, Karen G. Becker as Vice President of Sales. Karen started work at Grafton Village Cheese on January 1, 2011.
Becker brings over 30 years of experience in specialty food, cheese brokerage, and sales to Grafton Village Cheese Company. Prior to joining the company, she spent 17 years at Norseland Inc., where she held a senior sales leadership role.
“We are honored to have such a seasoned, industry sales veteran join our team to help further the distribution of Grafton Village Cheeses and support The Windham Foundation,” said David Rachlin, President and CEO of Grafton Village Cheese Company.
In her new position, Becker will serve as the head of national sales. Her responsibilities include creating a new sales approach for Grafton Village Cheese Company, managing national sales personnel and distribution channels. “I’m very excited to be a part of Grafton Village Cheese Company and the Windham Foundation,” Becker said. “I am also very pleased to lead a sales team for a company with such a strong philanthropic vision at its core.”
The Grafton Village Cheese Company, located in Grafton and Brattleboro, Vermont, handcrafts artisanal cheddar cheese. The company was founded in 1892 as the Grafton Cooperative Cheese Company, which converted surplus milk from local dairy farmers into cheese. Years later, a fire destroyed the original factory. When the Windham Foundation restored the company in the mid 1960s, a new era for the town was born. Today, quality and taste continue to serve as the hallmark of Grafton cheddar. As part of the nonprofit Windham Foundation, much of Grafton Cheese’s annual earned income funds the Foundation’s charitable programs.
