ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center, at the Leahy Center for Lake Champlain, is pleased to announce Nina Ridhibhinyo (rid-a-bin-yo), as the Group Programs Coordinator. She joins the ECHO Team education team to oversee the launching of summer camps, overnights and teen environmental summits at ECHO.
ECHO is revising their day-camp programming this summer season with six unique camps for children entering grades kindergarten through 8th. The Get Closer to the Lake science camps help youth get closer to the lake, lake science and native animals through outdoor exploration, on-the-water investigation and behind-the-scenes care of the animals at ECHO.
“Nina brings to ECHO a unique perspective and wealth of talent working with a variety of school-aged children in and around the Lake Champlain Basin area. She is the right person to ignite a sense of wonder and learning in the children we’ll have at our camps”, said Molly Loomis, ECHO’s Director of Education.
Prior to ECHO, Nina was a site leader for the Burlington Kids After School Program at Champlain Elementary, where she developed curriculum and managed enrichment programming. She also overhauled out-of-school programming for the City of Winooski's Recreation Department, including its summer camp program, as part of a two-year Americorps position. She has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Brown University and experience managing a community garden, running a green jobs training program for high-risk teenagers, and teaching environmental stewardship to middle school students.
