Owen Milne, executive director of the Community Sailing Center in Burlington, has been named Outstanding Organizational Leader for 2024 by U.S. Sailing, the national governing body for the sport of sailing.
The award, given at the U.S. Sailing Leadership Forum in Coronado, California, in February, honors individuals who have made notable contributions to an organization that have resulted in membership growth, positive financial development or increased community awareness and integration.
“I am honored to be recognized by US Sailing for the work that we do in our community,” Milne said. “While this is an individual award, it comes as a result of the hard work from our dedicated crew at the Community Sailing Center. This team has shown an amazing ability to adapt, experiment and innovate new ways to connect our community to Lake Champlain, and this award is proof of that success.”
A community-based nonprofit organization, Community Sailing Center encourages and celebrates the responsible use and long-term stewardship of Lake Champlain by fostering educational and recreational access for all members of its community.
