Comcast, the nation’s leading provider of entertainment, information and communications products and services, today announced that Janet Uthman has been named Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Comcast’s Western New England Region. In this role, Uthman will oversee all marketing and sales initiatives for the region, which encompasses 300 communities in Connecticut, Western Massachusetts, New York and Vermont.
Uthman will work to ensure all marketing and sales goals and initiatives for the region are communicated, supported and met for all channels and stakeholders. She will also be responsible for overseeing marketing campaigns; competitive intelligence and strategy; and local marketing and sales event sponsorships. Additionally, she will oversee regional sales channels.
“Janet brings an incredible amount of passion, knowledge and proven leadership to her new position,” said Mary McLaughlin, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Western New England Region. “Her strong marketing and industry background combined with her proven track record of success makes her the ideal person to head up our marketing and sales operations.”
Uthman brings a wealth of experience in marketing leadership to her role. She previously served as director of product management for Comcast’s Western New England Region and also owned her own cable industry consulting company. Prior to joining Comcast, Uthman served as corporate marketing director for Black Entertainment Television, and also held management positions at The Disney Channel and Coopers & Lybrand. No stranger to Comcast, Uthman also previously served as the Regional Director for Comcast in Baltimore, Maryland.
Uthman earned her Masters of Business Administration in Marketing from UCLA Anderson School of Management and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and Finance from UC Berkeley. She is active in many community and industry organizations, including the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM) and the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communication (NAMIC). She was one of just 40 business executives from across the country chosen to participate in NAMIC’s prestigious Executive Leadership Development Program in 2009 and participated in Comcast’s Executive Leadership Forum, a highly selective professional development program designed for the company’s high-performing leaders.
Uthman currently resides in West Hartford, Connecticut.
