Two new staff members at Governor’s Institutes of Vermont in South Burlington

Shelby Sorrentino of South Burlington has joined the staff of Governor’s Institutes of Vermont as the new Office Manager. A Castleton State College graduate, she has previously worked in marketing and promotional sales with the Florida Panthers National Hockey League team and the Vermont Lake Monsters, in addition to being the Continuing Learning Projects Administrator for Green Mountain Coffee Roasters. Shelby was most recently employed as Project Manager Assistant at Academic Consortium for Global Education, Carefree Arizona.

Shelby is a native of Colchester. In her time away from the office, Shelby enjoys reading, baking, and spending time at her family’s summer camp in West Barnet, Vermont.

Erika Nichols, a 2005 GIV graduate, has joined the staff of Governor’s Institutes of Vermont as the Development Associate. Nichols returned to Vermont after graduating from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York. For the past two years, she has been an Immigration Legal Assistant at Carroll & Scribner, P.C. Nichols is a native of Stowe and lives in Burlington.

Erika volunteers as the Poetry Editor for the Burlington Writers Workshop’s upcoming first anthology and as a youth mentor with King Street Center. She also enjoys playing ice hockey and snowboarding.

The Governor’s Institutes of Vermont (GIV) is a nonprofit organization that provides intensive hands-on academic experiences for Vermont’s high school students at college campuses across the state. Students learn from professors and experts in their areas of interest and collaborate with their peers in a focused environment.
