Secretary of State Jim Condos selected for national board protecting voter rights

Secretary of State Jim Condos has been selected to serve on the Council of State Governments’ policy committee to review oversees and military voter initiatives. CGS is a national, nonpartisan, non-profit that works within all three branches of government.

In response to his selection and the committees work, Secretary Condos commented: “Guaranteeing the constitutionally protected right to vote for our military and oversees voters has been a long time concern of mine. As Secretary of State, I have worked with Vermont legislators to improve our process within the state. Sometimes, there are changes that are more appropriate, however, to be made on a national level – not state-by-state – such as the 2009 Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act; this appointment will bring Vermont’s voice to the table.”
