Retreat announces appointment of new chief financial officer

Brattleboro Retreat has announced the appointment of Steven L. Monette as the hospital’s new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), with a start date effective December 1st.

Monette comes to the Retreat with extensive experience in healthcare finance. His most recent position was at Valley Regional Healthcare, Inc., in Claremont, NH, where he served as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer since 2006. Before assuming that position he served for one year as Valley Regional Healthcare’s controller.

Past employers also include Central New England Health Alliance in Leominster, MA, and Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, MA.

In his role at the Retreat, Monette will provide crucial input on strategic planning while also monitoring and communicating financial results and providing insight into anticipated market trends. He will guide the process of managed care contracting and participate in efforts related to healthcare payment reform and the establishment of strategic partnership opportunities.

Monette holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting from Western New England College in Springfield, MA.
