Jessica Barquist, former director of policy and organizing for the Vermont Network Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, has been named vice president of Vermont public affairs at Planned Parenthood of Northern New England and the Planned Parenthood Vermont Action Fund.
In her new role, Barquist oversees public policy, advocacy and communications as well as organizing and electoral activities for PPNNE and PPVTAF. She will work with senior leadership to develop a strategic public affairs and education agenda aligned with Planned Parenthood’s vision.
“Jessica brings a wealth of experience to serving diverse populations on behalf of organizations with missions that intersect with sexual and reproductive health,” said Nicole Clegg, interim CEO of Planned Parenthood of Northern New England. “Her dedication to ensuring the health of all Vermonters is inspiring, and Jessica’s knowledge of Vermont and the state Legislature makes her an incredible asset to Planned Parenthood and the communities we serve in all four corners of the state.”
Barquist is a graduate of Bard College at Simon's Rock in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, and holds a master's in clinical psychology from Teachers College of Columbia University in New York City.
