Lund Family Center Elects Halvorson and Paul to Board of Trustees

Karen Paul of Burlington VT and Tim Halvorson of Charlotte VT were recently

elected to the Lund Family Center Board of Trustees.

Karen Paul grew up in Burlington and “watched Lund over many years transform

itself into a center serving families and young women with children and

fostering an environment that embraces adoption.” Ms. Paul serves as City

Councilor for Burlington’s Ward 6 and is President of Paul Financial

Services, a financial management firm. Ms. Paul brings to Lund a wealth of

financial management experience, a strong understanding of local government

and a deep appreciation of the challenges Lund’s children and families

face. In addition to the Lund Board, Ms. Paul serves on the YMCA Board of

Directors, the Vermont Pension Investment Committee and has served terms on

the Vermont Environmental Board, the Governor’s Jobs Cabinet, Burlington

Electric Commission, Burlington Police Commission, Vermont Chamber of

Commerce, KidSafe Vermont and on various United Way committees. Ms. Paul

lives in Burlington with her husband, Mark Saba and their three children.

Tim Halvorson is well known as the Owner of Halvorson’s Upstreet Café and

Church Street Wine Cellars, an active member of the Burlington business

community and someone who constantly creates opportunity and finds ways to

help others. Mr. Halvorson currently serves on the Vermont Downtown

Development Board. His prior Board service includes terms with: the

Committee on Temporary Shelter (COTS), with a term as President; the

Burlington Business Association with term as President; Church Street

Marketplace Commission with a term as Chair; and, Burlington Discover Jazz

Festival. Mr. Halvorson brings deep compassion for the clients Lund serves,

incredible business acumen and strong fundraising and nonprofit management

experience. Mr. Halvorson lives in Charlotte with his wife Kristin and

their three teen aged children.

work focuses on three goals: strengthening families, reducing child abuse

and neglect, and helping to create new families through adoption. Its

or parenting teens and young adults, and adoptive families.
