Killington Mountain School Appoints Steve Palmer as Head Mogul Coach for the Eastern Qualifier Series

Killington Mountain School (KMS) recently announced the appointment

of Killington veteran freestyler Steve Palmer to the position of head coach

for the Eastern Qualifier (EQS) Series, also known as the B Mogul Team,

for KMS and the Killington Winter Sports Club/KMS Competitions Programs.

Palmer began skiing at age two and joined the Killington Freestyle Team

from its Hopeful Program in the mid 70s where he competed until the

early 80s. He spent two years on the U.S. Junior National Team prior to

graduating high school in 1985. After graduating from the U.S. Naval

Academy and serving as an officer in the U.S. Navy, Palmer joined former

U.S. Freestyle Coach and Killington Mountain School alum Dee Williams as

a mogul coach for the freestyle team from 1991-1995. Now, during the

week, he works as a senior business analyst for MultiPlan in Waltham,

Mass. and will guide and coach the B Team on weekends at Killington.

With his wife of 16 years, he has a 15-year-old daughter and 10-year-old

son.

"We're excited to have Steve back in the freestyle fold here at KMS and

KWSC," said Matt Gnoza, competitions director for the KWSC/KMS

competitions programs. "Steve brings depth to the freestyle program and

will help bring out the talents of our younger athletes."

The Killington Winter Sports Club/Killington Mountain School Competition

Programs are the primary development pipeline for the Killington

Mountain School. These programs are administered by KMS in conjunction

with the Killington Winter Sports Club and aim to create an appropriate

environment for the development of competitive athletes who are shaped

by the ideals of athleticism and who are inspired by a lifelong love of

their sport.

The KSC/KMS Coaching Staff teach athletes how to be safe on and around

the mountain, while supporting and sustaining each participant with

instruction, information and encouragement at all levels. The multi-snow

sport program offers a two-day program that starts the first weekend of

December and ends the last weekend in March and a three-day program that

starts the first full weekend in November and ends the last weekend in

March.
