The International Association of Professional Brochure Distributors Elects Bill Orleans as New President

At their September 2009 meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia, the International Association of Professional Brochure Distributors (IAPBD) elected a new president: Bill Orleans, owner of PP&D Brochure Distribution of Burlington, Vermont.

The IAPBD’s membership of brochure distributors includes companies which focus on, but are not exclusive to, the tourism industry. Members share common interests in the practices and challenges unique to the industry, and are guided by a common code of ethics. The mission of the association is to cultivate brochure advertising as a respectable profession delivering integrity, quality and results.

Bill Orleans founded PP&D Brochure Distribution in Burlington in 1981. Last year, with a staff of eight people, PP&D delivered over a million brochures to a thousand locations in Vermont, New York and New Hampshire, including 763 exclusive PP&D displays.

“I am very excited to see Bill Orleans become the new president of the IAPBD. He has done a great job with our member newsletter and brings new energy to the group,” said Bill Deering, Certified Folder Display, Vista, California and Past President of IAPBD.

“I strongly believe in this organization, which separates serious distribution companies from the guy who works out of his pick-up and front porch. It also provides me with a support system of colleagues that extends far beyond Vermont,” says Orleans.

The association has representatives from the United States, Canada, Mexico, France, Belgium, Ireland, England, Scotland and South Africa. Member organizations distribute more then 250 million brochures annually in over 30 thousand locations for more than 7,000 clients. Member displays are located in hotels, motels, tourist information centers, travel agencies, shopping malls, transportation hubs, and corporate centers.

The IAPBD Website, www.iapbd.org, includes member listings, a pod cast, brochure tips, and an application to rate your own brochure. Yearly conferences allow members to share experiences and learn about new developments in the industry. The next conference will be in Burlington, Vermont in September 2010.

Orleans’ PP&D also distribution magazines including: Seven Nights Dining Guide, Edible Green Mountains, Burlington Magazine, The Burlington Free Press Real-estate Extra, Homes and Land, and Vermont Commons Newspaper. Current brochure clients include: Vermont Attraction’s State Map, The Church Street Marketplace, Echo Science Center, Billings Farm, Vermont Marble, Stowe Mountain Resort, Ben and Jerry’s, Magic Hat, Shelburne Museum, Farm-Way, Vermont Country Store, and Fairbanks Museum.

“Many of our members have done very well in the last year despite the economic climate. In fact, at PP&D with many tourists staying closer to home – driving to Vermont instead of flying in the United States or to Europe – our magazine and brochure distribution for tourism grew in 2009,” Orleans added

Bill Orleans graduated from Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont and has resided in Queen City Park, South Burlington for over 25 years.
