Franklin County Business and Professional Women's annual awards

Franklin County BPW held its annual awards dinner on November 16, 2010 at One Federal Restaurant in St. Albans.

The Woman of Achievement Award was given to Christine Brock, a Business Account Manager for VABIR in St. Albans. Some of the comments in the letters of recommendation about Ms. Brock were, “Chris is one of those few people in your lifetime that you meet and never forget”; “She is always interested and caring for others whether it is in her own personal life or in her career”; “Chris is a real hands-on mentor to all and is the epitome of a Woman of Achievement” in our area. She is highly regarded throughout the entire State of Vermont not just in our community”; “Chris believes in trusting human nature. People are good at heart and if you trust them to do the right thing . . . they usually do”. “Chris believes in mentoring. She mentors by giving and giving and when all else fails, giving again”. congratulations to Christine Brock, Franklin County Woman of Achievement for 2010!

The Woman of the Year Award is given to a woman who demonstrates all the same qualities of the Woman of the Year and is also a BPW member. This year’s winner was Pauline Cray, the owner of Back Inn Time Bed & Breakfast and The Blue Acorn Restaurant in St. Albans. Pauline, a founding member of the St. Albans Society for the Performing Arts and the creator of the “Festival of Trees”, a downtown community event that raises thousands of dollars for local organizations. Some of the comments in the letters of recommendation about Ms. Cray were: “In the 50 years of volunteer work with many people from all walks of life, you are on occasion given a special person in your life who goes that extra few steps to accomplish a goal. This is seen in Pauline Cray”; “She is a tremendous asset to our community with her devotion to furthering the arts and culture environment”; “Pauline is a vibrant, compassionate and generous woman who exemplifies the qualities of a true “woman helping women” person”. “Pauline’s commitment to improving the quality of life for all members of her community is evident in her willingness to create projects, her ‘just do it’ mentality, and her sharp business sense that help create events which work, create money and leave a lasting impression”. “Her creativity and energy impresses all who work with her and she has gained the respect of many with her simple viewpoint of ‘inclusiveness’”.
