Donna Hunt recognized as Diabetes Care & Education Specialist of Year

Donna Hunt, registered dietician at the Rutland Diabetes and Endocrinology Center at Rutland Regional Medical Center, has been named Diabetes Care & Education Specialist of the Year by the Vermont Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists.

Hunt's work in the field of diabetes education has helped thousands of patients, and she is considered a role model among her peers. She was cited for her contributions to the Rutland Diabetes and Endocrinology Center, the Rutland region and the state of Vermont through her work in the field of diabetes education.

In a letter read to Donna at the award ceremony, Dr. Philip Lapp, vice president of medical affairs at Rutland Regional, praised Hunt's important contributions to the daily practice of patient care through her dedication and innovation.

“Your genuine kindness, caring and respect for everyone you interact with has fostered deep and lasting connections with countless patients and their families,” Lapp said. “You have been a role model for all of us; always warm, smiling and upbeat, meeting patients wherever they are to find meaningful personal goals that help them improve their quality of life.”
