Community sailing center announces new chairperson, officers and members of the board of directors

Mark Naud, outgoing board president of the Community Sailing Center, announced the election of the new slate of officers and board members for the upcoming year at the organization’s annual meeting held in November at the Main Street Landing Performing Arts Center.

The Community Sailing Center’s Officers for 2012 are: Board Chair, Marc Sherman, Outdoor Gear Exchange; Vice Chair, Kate Villa, CCS Fundraising; Treasurer, Jason Frank, Morgan Stanley Private Bank; Secretary, Sarah Sears, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor.

Newly elected chair Marc Sherman extends his sincerest thanks to Mark Naud, the outgoing board chair for his 15+ years of service to the Community Sailing Center. He also acknowledges the hard work of the Community Sailing Center’s board members during the past year while overcoming the challenge of the flooding of Lake Champlain.

"The Community Sailing Center provides important community access to Lake Champlain, as well as makes on-water recreation and education available to Burlington’s many constituencies through our partners and programs,” said Sherman. “Despite significant setbacks from early season flooding, the Center’s staff and volunteers pulled together for one of our strongest seasons yet. I am excited to move forward into 2012 with great staff, expanded programming, and a very diverse, robust and committed board of directors."

The board of directors elected two new members: John Bock, Key Private Bank; and Jill Spell, LaVilla Bistro.

The Community Sailing Center’s board of directors for 2012 include: Eli Lesser-Goldsmith, Healthy Living; Yves Bradley, Pomerleau Real Estate; Ted Castle, Rhino Foods; Russ Scully, Scully Interactive; Robert Bloch, Champlain College; Betsy Walkerman, Headwaters Strategy; Spencer Taylor, Union Street Media; Vivien Schuler, Alpine Shop; Suzanne Johnson, Hilton Burlington; Catherine Bowes, National Wildlife Federation; Ken Grillo; Alex Graham, University of Vermont; and Jonathon MacGowan.
