Comcast today announced the promotion of several employees to leadership roles for the company’s Western New England Region, which includes more than 300 communities in Vermont, Connecticut, Western Massachusetts, Western New Hampshire, and New York. Beverly Elliott was promoted to Vice President of Project Management; Brian Ferney will assume the role of Vice President of Marketing and Sales; and Jim Bitzas was named Director of Construction.
Beverly Elliott - Vice President of Project Management: Elliott has more than 20 years of industry experience and oversees Comcast’s regional Project Management Office, which is responsible for creating and managing the execution of plans and cross-functional teams that ensure new initiatives and product launches are rolled out efficiently and smoothly. One of the initiatives Elliott is responsible for is the company’s multi-year strategy to transform the customer experience and lead the region through measureable changes and improvements to help create a culture focused on exceeding customers’ expectations.
Elliott has held many roles in engineering and marketing at Comcast since joining the company in 2005 and most recently served as Director of Project Management. Prior to Comcast, Elliott worked for Cablevision for six years and also spent five years at BET/Action Pay-Per-View service in Santa Monica, CA.
A graduate of the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in English, Elliott has earned certification as a Six Sigma Green Belt and completed Comcast’s Executive Leadership Career Advancement Program, which is designed to accelerate career growth and increase retention for diverse leadership talent within the company. She also is a two-time finalist for the Connecticut Technology Council’s “Women of Innovation” award. Elliott resides in Norwalk, Connecticut, with her husband and their two children.
Brian Ferney - Vice President of Marketing and Sales: Ferney brings over 17 years of experience in the cable industry to his new role where he will develop strategies to maximize market share for all product lines and sales channels while assessing the marketplace and keeping pace with changing consumer demands and competitive offerings.
For the past 13 years Ferney has worked in sales and marketing at Comcast, and prior to his current role was Director of Marketing where he was responsible for rolling out new products and executing a marketing plan designed for customer acquisition and retention. Before joining Comcast, he was Manager of New Products for Time Warner Cable, and Account Manager with E! Entertainment Television.
Ferney has won multiple National Marketing awards for his creative development of marketing campaigns and was also honored as a Hartford Business Journal “40 under Forty” in 2010. In 2009 he graduated from Comcast’s Fundamentals of Leadership program, a highly selective professional development program designed for the company’s top emerging leaders from across the country. Ferney is a resident of West Hartford, Connecticut where he lives with his wife and daughter.
Jim Bitzas – Director of Construction: As Director of Construction, Bitzas is responsible for overseeing all plant constructions, rebuilds, and existing plant upgrades, as well as storm-related service restoration across the region with a focus on ensuring reliability of the company’s network, which is built for speed and fueled by innovation to deliver our customers the content they want anytime, anywhere across multiple platforms.
Bitzas has been in the cable industry for more than three decades, beginning as a field technician in 1983. Over the years, he has served in a variety of leadership roles, including Technical Manager, Operation Manager, Metrics Development Manager and Plant Operations Manager. He has also been part of many process-improvement teams, plant upgrades and rebuilds, and large project initiatives. A resident of Westfield, Jim is a member of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers and a graduate of a management training program at Western New England University. He and his wife are the parents of three adult daughters.
