VHB’s Vermont team announces promotions of Tonn and Willard

VHB is pleased to announce two leadership promotions for its Vermont team. Britta Tonn has been named VHB’s first Director of Cultural Resources in Vermont and Michael Willard, LEED AP, ALSA, is now Director of Landscape Architecture/Land Planning, Vermont.

An accomplished historic preservation planner and architectural historian, Britta meets the Secretary of the Interior’s Architectural Historian and Historian qualification standards, also serving as the governor-appointed architectural historian member of the Vermont Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. Britta holds a master’s degree in Historic Preservation from the University of Vermont.

During her three years with VHB as a Preservation Planner, Britta has helped to significantly expand VHB’s Cultural Resources team’s client base, most recently completing National Register nominations on behalf of the University of Vermont for the Redstone Campus and University Green historic districts, two of Vermont’s most historic and architecturally significant campuses.

“Britta has greatly enhanced VHB’s reputation as a firm with a wealth of experience around cultural resources. In her new role as Director of Cultural Resources, Vermont, Britta will continue to pursue strategic opportunities in coordination with our other service groups,” said Dave Saladino, PE, Managing Director, VHB, Vermont.

Bringing 26 years of landscape architecture experience to his new role, Michael Willard, PLA, LEED AP, has an extensive, award-winning portfolio that includes streetscape, park design, institutional, retail, hospitality, and housing projects across New England. He is a LEED® Accredited Professional and a Registered Landscape Architect in Vermont with a degree in Architecture from Vermont Technical College.

Having spent the last four years as a Senior Landscape Architect, Michael has helped clients successfully complete transformative projects, which include the revitalized downtown St. Albans Streetscape, and design of Spruce Peak at Stowe’s latest residential building, One Spruce Peak.

As Director of Landscape Architecture/Land Planning, Vermont, Michael will lead day-to-day operations, staffing, scheduling, and business development activities. “Michael has been a significant asset to our team with the experience and passion he brings for developing innovative and award-winning landscape architecture design, collaborating with our land development, land planning, environmental, and transportation groups. Michael’s dedication to the profession will serve our clients well as we continue to solidify and expand our presence in the Vermont market,” said Saladino.
