Stern Center's Dr Farrall delivers keynote at Dyslexia Conference

Dr Melissa Farrall, Program Manager for Evaluation at the Stern Center for Language and Learning recently delivered the keynote address at the 22nd Annual State Dyslexia Summer Institute in Hurst, Texas. The Institute, a state-funded event held on July 24 and 25, brought together more than 900 Texas public and charter school teachers as part of a statewide initiative to train educators in state-of-the -art research on reading disabilities, assessment, instruction, and technology.

Dr Farrall’s talk, “Bringing Reading Assessment into the 21st Century,” focused on how educational evaluations can be designed to ensure a stronger link between student abilities and instruction. Dr Farrall is a national expert on reading assessment and her text, “Reading Assessment: Linking Language, Literacy, and Cognition,” has been designated as the text for dyslexia-related trainings throughout Texas.
