Nikki Fuller, Esq. named Deputy Director of Human Resources and Recruitment & Retention Specialist

Superintendent Jeanné Collins has announced the appointment of Nikki Fuller, Esq. as Deputy Director of Human Resources and Recruitment & Retention Specialist. Collins anticipates approval by the School Board at its September 11, 2012 meeting with a start date of October 3, 2012. Collins notes: “In light of conversations this spring, we know that to meet the needs of all of our children as they enter global workforces with many cultures and races, our teaching workforce needs to be more diverse and to better reflect the community it serves. We also know that to attract and retain excellence, our organization must have an inclusive workplace environment. In other words, diversity must be integrated throughout the organization and at every level. Ms. Fuller brings a level of experience in law and human resources, and a familiarity with what the community needs, and will help us to narrow this gap for the success of our students.”

In addition to recruitment, Ms. Fuller will be responsible for evaluating the culture of the organization; identifying systems, policies and procedures that are impediments to creating an inclusive workplace environment; and assisting in the implementation of necessary changes. She will monitor and report to the Superintendent on the progress of the District’s diversity initiatives and on any potential accountability concerns. Collins states: “In short, she will be helping us to create an organizational culture that will support and encourage every employee which will only benefit every student.”

Living in the Burlington area for 25 years and serving as assistant city attorney for the City of Burlington for over 11 years, Ms. Fuller brings life, work and parental experiences that give her a unique and relevant perspective on the needs of the District and the community. "Her longevity and commitment to this community has resulted in long-standing relationships that will prove helpful in building partnerships that will aid us in accomplishing our mission. It is clear that she will not accept the status quo and will challenge us to our very core,” says Collins.

“We are excited and privileged that Nikki has agreed to join our team. The foundation for our work going forward is now in place.”
