Home Care Assistance of Greater Burlington (VT) welcomes new Associate Client Care Manager

Home Care Assistance of Greater Burlington, a leading provider of in-home care for seniors, is proud to welcome Bernadette Thompson as an additional Associate Client Care Manager. Bernadette came to Home Care Assistance because of a strong personal connection with our aging population. Both her mother and grandfather passed from Alzheimer’s and her brother Greg O’Brien (author On Pluto: Inside the Mind of Alzheimer’s) suffers from early onset Alzheimer’s. Bernadette has Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and has 15 years experience working with at risk adolescents with emotional disabilities including anxiety, depression and trauma. She worked in a school based alternative program which used a team of social workers, psychologists, teachers and behaviorists to design individual programs to help them to integrate in the general school population.

As member of a large family Bernadette learned quickly the challenges of not only navigating home care for two aging parents but also the emotional challenges her parents were facing as they aged. That experience brings a strong sense of empathy for our Clients and our Families as they work through the same process. Her belief in the holistic approach of integrating Mind, Body and Spirit in the aging care process is what brought her to Home Care Assistance. She believes the HCA Balanced Care Method is a blue print for doing just that.

“My belief in a holistic approach of integrating mind, body and spirit in the aging care process is what attracted me to Home Care Assistance. I believe The Balanced Care Method is a blue print for doing just that.” said Bernadette Thompson, Associate Client Care Manager of Home Care Assistance of Greater Burlington. “The joy on a clients face as they share their happiness and their sense of purpose, and the peace of mind on the faces of their family members, motivates me every day.”
