Peter Espenshade has been named to succeed Jody Woos as executive director of the Lake Champlain Chamber Music Festival, board officials said. Espenshade’s background includes leadership experience at some of Vermont’s key institutions, including the Lake Champlain Land Trust, the Vermont Association for Mental Health and Addiction Recovery, and the Vermont Community Foundation.
“Peter’s appreciation for culture — including for the music we present — is genuine,” Co-Artistic Director Soovin Kim said. “He is committed to working hard on establishing the funding to give us the freedom to develop younger and underserved audiences. He sees us as one of the treasured Vermont cultural institutions in terms of quality and the respect we garner. Peter’s skills are in strong alignment with our artistic vision, and his hire comes at a time of growth for our festival.”
The Lake Champlain Music Festival seeks to inspire and nurture a lifelong appreciation for classical music throughout the community. With a focus on providing opportunities for enrichment to people of all ages and levels of musical experience, the festival presents world-class performers in concert, engages a range of audiences, and provides meaningful experiences for aspiring young musicians, composers, and educators.
The 2022 festival runs from Saturday, Aug 20, to Sunday, Aug 28. Visit lccmf.org for details.
