The Vermont Department of Public Safety announces the election of Commissioner Keith Flynn to the National Criminal Justice Association (NJCA) Board of Directors. Elected by peers from across the country, the NJCA is a national voice helping to shape criminal justice policy.
Commissioner Flynn was elected August 7th, at the 2016 National Forum on Criminal Justice in Philadelphia, PA. Flynn will serve on the board during the 2016-2017 term, as the NCJA works to promote a balanced approach to communities' complex public safety, criminal and juvenile justice system problems.
Commissioner Flynn said of the election, “I am proud to represent Vermont during a crucial national conversation about criminal justice and 21st century policing. I am also excited to bring new criminal justice ideas and approaches from other communities back to Vermont, as we move into a new era of law enforcement and community policing.”
The NCJA Board of Directors and the Executive Committee formulate and guide the policy and direction of the association. Based in Washington, D.C., the NCJA is the representative of state, tribal and local criminal and juvenile justice practitioners. The NCJA works to promote a balanced approach to communities' complex public safety, criminal and juvenile justice system problems. Its members represent all facets of the criminal and juvenile justice community, from law enforcement, corrections, prosecution, defense, courts, victim-witness services and educational institutions to federal, state and local elected officials.
