The College of St. Joseph in Rutland is pleased to announce the appointment of Deidre Snee as new bookstore manager. Deidre, currently of Center Rutland, VT, was born in New Jersey to an artistic family. Deidre majored in fiber arts at Georgia Southern University and the Tyler School of Art at Temple University. While living in Philadelphia, Deidre worked for Glen-Abby Stationary Store and Brookstone Company in retail sales. She went on to work for Conrail as a corporate assistant in the Human Resources department and later in the Government Affairs/Community Relations department of the company.
Since moving to Vermont with her husband and two sons seven years ago, Deidre has volunteered her time at the Rutland Free Library. She was also instrumental in assisting the town of Montgomery Center, VT, in growing their own library by soliciting and transporting discarded books from Rutland as well as from a closed bookstore in New Jersey to Montgomery Center.
In addition to her volunteer work, Deidre also operates her own internet business called Gee-Wool-a-Kers!, where she sells her own handmade wool needle-felted work. These 3-dimensional pieces encompass everything from ornaments and pins to sculpture and wall hangings. Her work focuses primarily on nature, animals, and anthropomorphized objects. Deidre’s business has been in full swing for three years now, and in addition to internet sales, her work is available locally at Vermont Creates, and has been available at the Southern Vermont Arts Center in Manchester, VT, and Mountain Fiber Folk in Montgomery Center.
