Capstone Community Action selects new executive director

Alison Calderara

Capstone Community Action has tapped the organization's chief of programs and advancement, Alison Calderara, to serve as its next executive director. She succeeds Sue Minter, who stepped down in December 2024 after leading the agency for six years.

In her new role, Calderara will oversee Capstone’s programs, staff and business affairs while guiding the organization’s community impact, financial sustainability and long-term growth.

“After a thorough national search, we are proud to hire Alison for this critical role for Capstone,” said board chair Abby White. “She is a thoughtful, collaborative leader who brings both strategic vision and a deep commitment to equity and opportunity.”

Calderara joined Capstone in March 2020 from Community Health Centers of Burlington, where she served as CEO for approximately three years. She holds both a bachelor's degree in English and communications and a Master of Education in organizational studies and human resource development from the University of Vermont.

Founded in 1965, Capstone provides programs and services to low- to moderate-income Vermonters, helping them achieve stability and rise out of poverty.
