Capstone Community Action hires Deputy Director of Mission Fulfillment and Program Excellence, and Director of Resource Development and Grants

Capstone Community Action announced today that Christine Johnson has joined the organization as Deputy Director of Mission Fulfillment and Program Excellence. Brian Tagliaferro was hired in May as the Director of Resource Development and Grants. Both positions are a critical part of the leadership team at Capstone Community Action.

Christine served as the Director of Policy and Program Integration for the Vermont Agency of Human Services Office of the Secretary. Prior to that, she worked as an AHS Field Director, and worked for the Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative. Her early work as a State employee in both child welfare and corrections aided her understanding of Vermont communities. A strong background in community engagement, results based accountability, financial literacy, and expertise in developing trauma informed organizations will contribute to the fulfillment of Capstone’s mission.

Brian came to Capstone from Vermont Public Radio where he was Manager of Philanthropic Giving for nearly four years. Prior to that, Brian was the Development Director for a human service organization for five and a half years. He has spent 15 years in the non-profit sector working on issues ranging from the environment, justice, voting and disabilities.

Brian brings a wealth of experience in all aspects of individual donor cultivation. His expertise includes planned giving, grant research and writing, and communications. Brian comes to the agency at a crucial time when individual and community commitment and investment are needed as a solution to address the challenges of vulnerable Vermonters.

Dan H. Hoxworth, Executive Director of Capstone Community Action stated “I am delighted to have Christine and Brian on our team. Their talent, drive and commitment to our mission will be essential to our agency’s ability to fulfill our mission at unprecedented levels across Lamoille, Orange and Washington counties, and to continue our leadership role for the State in our 51st year of serving Vermonters. Their expertise and experience will further strengthen our dynamic leadership team and continue Capstone’s innovative programming in stabilizing lives, providing opportunities for Vermonters to prosper, and building sustainable communities.”
