Vermont author and veteran teacher Rachel Carter has joined Onion River Press, an independent publishing company based in Burlington, as program director.
Carter's hiring comes on the heels of Onion River announcing it will soon begin offering a broad array of in-person classes for writers of all levels on topics ranging from fiction to poetry to creative nonfiction.
“I’m so excited to join the Onion River Press team,” Carter said. “Both writing and teaching are passions of mine, and I’m thrilled that we’ll be able to offer local writing classes that will help aspiring authors achieve their dreams.”
For the past decade, Carter has taught creative writing at the college level at both Columbia University and Champlain College. She is a graduate of the University of Vermont and holds a Master of Fine Arts in nonfiction creative writing from Columbia University.
Carter is the author of three books published with HarperTeen, "So Close to You," "This Strange and Familiar Place" and "Find Me Where the Water Ends."
