The Vermont Pharmacists Association has honored three state residents for their commitment, professionalism and service to their profession:
Jeffrey Firlick of Williston was named recipient of the Bowl of Hygeia, given to one pharmacist in each state for their history of outstanding professionalism and commitment to community service. During his more than 40-year pharmacy career, Firlik practiced in retail pharmacies, hospital outpatient and inpatient pharmacies, informatics consulting and as an instructor of pharmacy and graduate nursing students. He volunteered for several state and national pharmacy committees, served on the VT Board of Pharmacy and provides service music for several local churches.
Major Pete Peck of Springfield was awarded the VPA Challenge Coin, which recognizes a pharmacist who has contributed to the welfare of patients and the profession of pharmacy in both civilian and military/first-responder settings. Peck currently serves as director of pharmacy at Springfield Hospital and is pharmacy logistics officer for the 804th Medical Brigade United States Army Reserve.
April Neyman of Rutland was given the Pharmacy Technician Award, which recognizes a technician with either a sustained or singular contribution of outstanding service to the profession of pharmacy. Neyman has been the lead technician at Beauchamp & O’Rourke Pharmacy in Rutland for 17 years. She has helped the pharmacy extend professional services such as medication adherence, blister packing and coordination of care while still maintaining a hometown touch.
