Sivan Cotel of Vergennes, VT has joined the University of Vermont Health Network Board of Trustees. He is Co-Founder and Director of Operations for Stonecutter Spirits in Middlebury and serves as Chair of the Board of Directors at UVM Health Network – Porter Medical Center. Cotel was previously the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of WhistlePig Whiskey, and provides counsel to new craft spirits companies on operational and business planning. He spent the first part of his career in financial services at Bear Stearns, JPMorgan Chase, and Bank of America Merrill Lynch, after graduating with honors from Wesleyan University with a Bachelor’s degree double-majoring in Psychology and Music and a Master's degree in Psychology.
“I’m excited to help the UVM Health Network continue building an integrated health care delivery system,” said Cotel. “Vermont is at the center of the entire country’s progress towards population-based payment reform, and our affiliates are leading the way forward. We have a lot of hard work to do, with the important missions of improving care and cost-containment, and I’m looking forward to helping tackle those challenges."
Porter’s president, Dr. Fred Kniffin, recognizes the value of having a direct connection between the affiliate boards and the Network board. “As we navigate in these challenging and uncertain times for health care, our Network is working to preserve access to the care that our communities need, while also changing the way care is delivered to focus on wellness as much as illness and cost control,” he said. Having Sivan in the Network board room helps strengthen both communication and the connection between Porter and our Network colleagues.”
“I’m delighted to welcome Sivan to the board and look forward to benefitting from his experience and skills in business and finance, as well as his team perspective and insightful thinking,” said Scottie Emery-Ginn, chair of the UVM Health Network Board of Trustees.
Mr. Cotel also serves on the boards of the Green Mountain Secure Retirement Plan and the Main Street Alliance of Vermont.
