Vermont Democrats tap McClimans for House campaign director

Vermont Democrats are preparing for the upcoming election cycle with the hiring of Cameron McClimans as House campaign director. McClimans will be responsible for creating and implementing a campaign plan that includes fundraising, incumbent support and candidate recruitment.

“We held a comprehensive search process over the last month, and while we enjoyed several very strong final candidates, Cameron McClimans immediately impressed us with his extensive experience working in the field, as well as with his knowledge and understanding of Vermont,” said House Majority Leader Emily Long.

McClimans previously worked on campaigns in Vermont, Virginia, New Hampshire, New Jersey and Maryland. He graduated from UMass Amherst in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in political science and history. His first day of work was April 4.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to return to the state of Vermont as the next House campaign director,” McClimans said. “We have a unique opportunity to capitalize on the high turnout of the 2020 presidential election through energizing and mobilizing our voters. Together, we can create a locally focused, grassroots-driven campaign program that will bring an even greater number of Democratic House representatives to the State House in 2023.”
