Saint Michael’s names higher education pro as Individual Giving Officer

Kathleen (Kathie) Berard, who earned a master’s at Saint Michael's College in 1996, and served most recently as senior gifts officer at Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pa., has been named Individual Giving Officer at Saint Michael’s College. She began at the liberal arts residential Catholic college on March 28th. Ms. Berard closed a $1 million gift for Wilson’s library project just before leaving that college.

“I have done a number of things in higher education, but now I have found my passion—weaving together donors with institutional needs,” Ms. Berard said. “I also love the travel that goes with this job,” she said.

Before becoming a senior gift officer at Wilson, Ms. Berard served that institution as Vice President for Community Relations (2006-2007), and as VP and Dean of Enrollment (2001-2006), and she served Seton Hill College as Director of Admissions (1998-2001).

A 1987 graduate of Trinity College of Vermont, Ms. Berard served Trinity College in various capacities from 1986 to 1998, finally as their Director of Admissions, prior to joining Seton Hill.

“Returning to Vermont is like coming home,” said Ms. Berard, who is now a resident of Burlington. Her oldest daughter and her daughter’s husband and their two children live in South Burlington. Her other daughter, a police officer, married to a fireman, lives in Connecticut with her husband and their two children.

Ms. Berard has a strong record of community service from her time in Chambersburg, including board membership on the Greater Chambersburg Area Chamber of Commerce, the Letterkenny Industrial Development Authority, and the United Way of Franklin County, and membership in Rotary International, the American Heart Association, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
