Rutland Regional Medical Center announces its 2021 Providers Awards

Rutland Regional Medical Center has announced the winners of its 2021 Providers Awards that represent the highest ideals in health care. Criteria used to select the awardees include the respect among peers, clinical excellence, professional credibility, involvement in public service and the community, and the demonstration of the vision and values of Rutland Regional Health Services.

Winners are:

  • Rutland Regional Physician of the Year — Trent Shelton, DO, interventional radiologist at Rutland Regional Medical Center. Shelton joined Rutland Regional in 2017 as an interventional radiologist with Rutland Radiologists. He also serves as chief of the diagnostic imaging section. Shelton is a graduate of Brigham Young University and received his medical degree from Midwestern University.
  • Rutland Regional Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant of the Year — Leah Skypeck, critical care physician assistant at Rutland Regional Medical Center. Skypeck joined Rutland Regional in 2018. In addition to being the lead advance practice provider for the ICU, she attended a leadership course through the Vermont Medical Society. Skypeck is a graduate of Dartmouth College, attended pre-med courses at Mount Holyoke College and received a master’s in physician assistant studies at Springfield College.
  • Rutland Community Primary Care Physician of the Year — Lisa Hogenkamp, MD, family medicine physician at Rutland Regional Physicians Group. Hogenkamp joined Rutland Regional in 1997. She is a graduate of Cornell University and received her medical degree at State University of New York at Syracuse.
  • Rutland Community Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant of the Year — Amy Pfenning, pediatric nurse practitioner at Community Health Pediatrics. Pfenning joined the Rutland Regional Medical Center community in 1995 as a registered nurse on the Women’s and Children’s Unit and joined the medical staff in 2018. She holds a bachelor's in nursing from Walden University and a master's from Maryville University.
