R Prescott Jaunich named Fellow of premier real estate lawyer organization

Attorney R Prescott “Scott” Jaunich of the northern New England law firm Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC has been elected Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, the premier professional organization for US real estate lawyers.

“This honor underscores Scott’s reputation as a leader in the field,” said colleague and ACREL Fellow James G. Wheeler. “This is a significant professional achievement and he will be a great addition to the organization.”

Founded in 1978, ACREL is the country’s leading professional organization for U.S. real estate attorneys. ACREL membership is by invitation only to lawyers who have “contributed to the improvement of real estate law through a combination of speaking, writing, teaching and serving on relevant boards and commissions.” After a rigorous screening process, ACREL selects lawyers who are “distinguished for their skill, experience, and high standards of professional and ethical conduct in the practice of real estate law.” There are only five ACREL real estate lawyers in Vermont.

With nearly three decades of experience in the field, Scott Jaunich counsels developers and commercial interests in real estate transactions and regulatory matters, including acquisition, sale, leasing, and development. Scott is also recognized by Chambers USA as one of Vermont’s leading real estate lawyers. In 2019 Scott was named by Best Lawyers© as the 2019 Lawyer of the Year in Burlington, Vermont for Real Estate. Scott regularly authors content for Thomson Reuters’ Practical Law Real Estate series and recently co-authored a chapter on title examinations and title issues for MCLE New England. He is a frequent speaker and participant at the Vermont Development Conference and has served on the Conference’s steering committee.
