Norwich professor honored for 'significant contributions' to cause of patriotism

Jason Jagemann, PhD, associate professor of political science at Norwich University, has been awarded the Silver Patrick Henry Award by the Military Order of World Wars for his significant contribution to the cause of patriotism during MOWW’s New England Youth Leadership conferences at Norwich from 2019 to 2022.

Jagemann was cited for his “subject knowledge, teaching manner and enthusiastic interaction with young students” during the conference. The letter further lauds Jagemann for teaching about the Supreme Court through role play of real cases, achieving “a better understanding of the application of the civil liberties outlined in the US Constitution.”

“For those who know Dr. Jagemann, this award comes as no surprise,” College of Liberal Arts Dean Edward Kohn said. “A fixture of the Norwich campus and the political science program for 16 years, ‘Dr J’ has proven himself a popular teacher, valued mentor, knowledgeable scholar and a supportive colleague.”

Jagemann serves as coordinator of the political science program for undergraduates at Norwich. His primary field of expertise is in American politics with emphases in public law, political behavior and interest-group politics. He also has ancillary scholarly and teaching interests in political theory and philosophy, in particular, democratic theory and feminist political thought.

Jagemann is a graduate of SUNY Potsdam and holds master's and doctoral degrees from Western Michigan University.
