New faces at the Vermont International Film Foundation

Lorna-Kay Peal, President of the Board of Directors of VTIFF, is delighted to announce the appointment of two new board members who “bring their knowledge and experience in film culture, leadership and financial organization”:

Paula Willoquet-Maricondi, Dean of the Division of Communication and Creative Media at Champlain College. Paula has a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature & Film Studies from Indiana University, and a MA in French from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Prior to moving to Vermont in 2013, Paula taught film studies at Marist College in New York. She was born and raised in Brazil.

Kevin Meehan, an attorney with a lengthy career helping organizations in all areas of human capital strategy and program implementation. Kevin served as an Executive Officer and a Member of the Board of Directors of Watson Wyatt (now Towers Watson) where he was the Region Manager for North America operations. Kevin has also served on the Board of Directors of the Association of Management Consulting Firms. Kevin has a history of supporting innovative organizations in the film industry.

VTIFF Executive Director, Orly Yadin, is equally delighted to announce the hiring of two part-time Executive Assistants who “will help the organization move closer towards developing its programs and partnerships”.

Seth Jarvis – Assistant for community outreach programming: A lifelong fan and practitioner of the performing arts, Seth Jarvis is very excited to join the Vermont International Film Foundation team. Jarvis is a writer, performer, director, and producer who has been involved in numerous theatrical productions, on-going arts series, and film projects over the years. As a teaching artist, he has led workshops in schools and centers around the state. Jarvis was also the buyer and a manager for the late Waterfront Video for over fifteen years.

Joanna Thomas – Administrative Assistant and Volunteer Coordinator: Joanna Thomas is from Derby, VT and has been volunteering with VTIFF for seven years most recently as the Volunteer Coordinator. She is a graduate of American University with a degree in International Studies and has studied in Santiago, Chile and Accra, Ghana.

The Vermont International Film Foundation (VTIFF) is a cultural non-profit organization whose mission is to enrich the community through film. VTIFF is a year-round organization that showcases community film screenings, hosts film series like the Global Roots Series, and supports Vermont filmmakers. The largest program of the Foundation is the annual Vermont International Film Festival. Vermont’s longest running film festival, this year marks its 29th Anniversary. The festival is best known for featuring groundbreaking and independent films from around the world and Vermont and for the Vermont Filmmakers’ Showcase™, the largest juried selection of Vermont-made films. The 2014 festival runs October 24th -November 2nd 2014, at Main Street Landing Performing Arts Center, and The BCA Center.
