Attorney Mary K. Parent has been elected president of the St. Johnsbury Chamber of Commerce. Parent, an attorney with the firm Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC, began her one-year term in December. She succeeds Jeff Moore, owner of Quest Transportation.
Parent is a senior associate at DRM working in both the firm’s St. Johnsbury, Vt., and Lebanon, N.H. offices. She represents business clients in corporate and commercial transactions, business formation and operation, private equity transactions, commercial real estate transactions, commercial financing and mergers and acquisitions in both states. As well, she has worked with local, regional and national private equity firms and technology companies in investment transactions, including stock and convertible debt transactions. She regularly helps clients to form Vermont and New Hampshire corporations and limited liability companies. She has formed non-profit entities and assisted clients in completing the necessary paperwork to obtain 501(c)(3) status from the Internal Revenue Service.
Downtown organization through the National Main Street Program. Through a variety of initiatives, the Chamber is tackling the economic restructuring of St. Johnsbury through design, business recruitment, market analysis, and marketing. The Chamber was a driving force behind the reconstruction of the 1879 Building, damaged by a fire on Dec. 23 of last year. Parent’s responsibilities include chairing the board meetings, appointing committee chairs, serving as an ex officio member of all committees, monitoring finances, supervising and evaluating the executive director, setting goals for the organization and evaluating whether the organization is meeting its mission.
