Ameriprise Financial advisor, Denise A. Palmer, and her team recently spent a morning volunteering at Vermont Foodbank. Volunteerism is one way that Palmer’s team exhibits how they value their communities and embrace social responsibility.
Alongside other volunteers they sorted nearly 4000 lbs. of donated food to be distributed to network partners, which can include meal sites and food shelves throughout Vermont. Palmer commented: “Hunger is a serious issue and Vermont Foodbank is an important resource to our state. I appreciate the opportunity to help out and I am also proud of my team for their enthusiasm and participation in our volunteer efforts.”
Working with a network of 270 food shelves, meal sites, senior centers, shelters and after-school programs, the Vermont Foodbank provided 8.2 million pounds of food to as many as 86,000 Vermonters in need last year. As the problem of hunger grows in Vermont and around the nation, food banks and anti-hunger organizations rely more on volunteers and donors to support the work of ensure everyone has enough food to eat.
