Kevin Mazuzan, Executive Director of the American Red Cross in Vermont, is deploying to Nebraska to help with ongoing flooding relief efforts there. He leaves on April 3 for a two-week deployment in the role of Elected Official Liaison. More than 700 Red Cross workers have mobilized to deliver relief and hope. Over the past 10 days, 18 Red Cross and community shelters provided safe refuge for 357 people in Nebraska, Mississippi, Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin. The Red Cross has also served more than 40,000 meals and snacks to people in these impacted communities.

Kevin Mazuzan joined the American Red Cross New Hampshire & Vermont Region in August 2015 as the Disaster Workforce Engagement Manager. Kevin was named the American Red Cross Executive Director – Vermont in March 2016. He is responsible for initiating and fostering partnerships with government entities, community-based groups and private sector agencies, and supporting the development of revenue generating strategies. Kevin served for a total of 11 years as a Paramedic and later an Officer with the Fire Department of New York, earning the rank of Captain in 2014. In his role of Executive Director, Kevin serves as a Vermont Emergency Food and Shelter Program Board Member, and in 2017 received the Community Action Award from BROC in Southwestern Vermont.
In the days and weeks ahead, Red Cross disaster workers will remain on the ground and continue to provide relief and support services to families who have lost so much from this disaster. The Red Cross is working closely with the entire response community – federal, state, county and local agencies, other non-profit organizations, churches, area businesses and others – to coordinate relief efforts and deliver help quickly and efficiently.
