Allen joins Good News Garage as program manager

Good News Garage, the car donation nonprofit based in Burlington, Vermont, is pleased to welcome Amanda Allen as program manager for Ready To Go. In her role, Allen will oversee Good News Garage’s van-shuttle program operating across Vermont and in Central Massachusetts. “Amanda joins our organization at an exciting time. Our Ready To Go program is steadily growing, and we’re adding drivers in areas like Burlington, Newport and St. Johnsbury to keep up with demand,” said Amy Barcomb, assistant director of operations at Good News Garage. “Amanda’s leadership ensures we can continue expanding while providing a high level of service to the families that rely on this program every day for transportation to work, school and childcare.”

Allen comes to Good News Garage from WestEd in Williston, where she worked for four years as a program assistant. Prior to moving to Vermont in 2015, Allen managed a family adventure resort in West Virginia where she was responsible for operations, sales and marketing. She and her husband chose to move to Vermont to start a family and were “attracted to Vermont’s sense of community and slower pace of life.”

The Good News Garage office at 331 N. Winooski Avenue in Burlington serves as the central dispatch office for the Ready To Go program in both Vermont and Massachusetts. The program operates a fleet of 33 vans, most of which were donated to the nonprofit. In 2018, Ready To Go scheduled over 35,000 rides and served nearly 400 clients. In order to keep the program rolling, Ready To Go has an ongoing need for donated vans.
