Don Brown, of Highgate Springs, and Ellie Bliss, of Middlebury, were honored by the Vermont Symphony Orchestra during the VSO Association’s Annual Meeting Wednesday night (September 21, 2011) at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe. Brown and Bliss were awarded the VSO Volunteer of the Year Award.
On September 25th, delegates from Vermont’s AFL-CIO State Labor Council elected Ben Johnson as President. Ben is a librarian at Vermont Technical College, a member of the Vermont State Colleges Faculty Federation, AFT local 3180 and head of United Professions AFT Vermont. At 36 he is the youngest AFL-CIO state president.

The Vermont Democratic State Committee recently elected Jake Perkinson to the position of Vermont Democratic Party Chair and Dorothy Deans to the position of Vermont Democratic Party Vice Chair.
