Speaker Shap Smith has announced the appointment of Rep. Michael Fisher as the chair of the House Committee on Health Care. Rep. Fisher, the current vice chair of the committee, replaces former Rep. Mark Larson who resigned from the legislature in August to become the Commissioner of the Department of Vermont Health Access. Rep. Sarah Copeland-Hanzas will become the committee’s vice chair.

With a national reputation as a family-friendly designer and author of No Place Like Home, Stephen Saint-Onge will return to his roots to attend the Vermont Fine Furniture and Woodworking Festival. The event, now in its 8th year, will be held at the Union Arena in Woodstock on September 24-25, 2011.

Champlain College has named Sarah Boston Andriano as Director of Undergraduate Admissions. Andriano comes to Champlain from Boston University where she was Senior Assistant Director of Admissions. She also worked in admissions at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.

Deborah N. Black, MDCM, CPSQ, FRCP(C) recently joined Dr. Jamie Krantz at Central Vermont Neurology, a Central Vermont Medical Center group located in Medical Building A attached to the hospital. (MDCM is the Canadian medical degree. CSPQ stands for Certificate Specialist of the Province of Quebec and FRCP (C) stands for Fellow Royal College of Physicians, Canada.)

Steve grew up in Bradford, Vermont and graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts. He has worked throughout New England, then moved west.

The Central Vermont Medical Center art gallery, located in the hospital lobby, has fast become a popular venue for local artists. Our newest exhibitor is Lynn Newcomb who works as a blacksmith/sculptor and a printmaker. Her forge and print shop are located in Worcester, Vermont. The CVMC exhibit is open from now until November 4, 2011.
