U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vermont, will receive the 2012 annual Achievement Award from Vermont Law School’s Washington, D.C., Alumni Association on Nov. 27 in the U.S. Capitol Building.

The award recognizes organizations and people who have demonstrated outstanding achievements as leaders, catalysts, and educators, particularly in the field of environmental policy.

The Visiting Nurse Association of Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties announced the appointment of two new members to the VNA Honorary Board.

Dunkiel Saunders has announced that Justin McCabe and Erik Nielsen have joined the firm as associate attorneys.

Community and Economic Development Office Director Peter Owens announced that Burlington resident and State Representative Kesha Ram has joined the CEDO team to focus on enhancing the City’s public engagement efforts. Ram, who began her new job this morning, will serve as Community Development Specialist, an existing position that had been vacant for several months.

Attorney General William Sorrell announced today that Assistant Attorney General Susanne R. Young became Deputy Attorney General on November 13, 2012. Susanne replaces Sorrell’s deputy, Janet C. Murnane, who left the position to become Director of the Consumer Assistance Program on the campus of the University of Vermont.

Morrisville , VT - Devan Hill, a senior at People’s Academy, was honored with the 2012 Top Youth Volunteer Award by the March of Dimes Vermont Chapter at the Stowe Signature Chefs Event at the Town & Country Resort October 21.

On the evening of October 24th, 2012 students, parents, friends and staff gathered to participate in the induction of new members to the Stafford Technical Center DECA chapter.

The Vermont Arts Council is pleased to announce its Creation Grant recipients for Fiscal Year 2013. A total of $33,000 will be awarded to 11 Vermont artists in seven counties, each of whom will receive $3,000 to support new work. A panel with experience in curating, producing and creating art selected the following grantees from a pool of over 100 applicants:

Morgan Diltz of Moultonborough, N.H., a graphic design major/marketing minor at Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, Vt., has received the VT/NH Marketing Group’s annual scholarship. The $500 award was presented to Diltz at the not-for-profit organization’s annual summer conference, which she was invited to attend for free as part

of the scholarship.

Stephanie J. Nelms, DMD has joined the offices of Gary L Morris, DDS on October 1.

Dr. Nelms earned a B.S. in Nutrition from the University of Vermont and a D.M.D. from Tufts University in Boston, MA. She is originally from Barre, VT and graduated from Spaulding High School. Dr. Nelms practiced in Fort Collins, CO prior to joining Waterbury Family Dentistry.
