The Vermont Commission on Women (VCW) is a non-partisan state agency advancing rights and opportunities for women and girls. Sixteen volunteer commissioners and representatives from organizations concerned with women’s issues guide VCW’s public education, coalition building, and advocacy efforts. Commissioners are appointed by various appointing authorities to serve four-year terms.

Gary Karnedy has accepted a Fellowship in the American Bar Foundation (ABF). Membership in the Fellows is limited to one percent of the lawyers admitted to practice in each jurisdiction of the United States and to a small percentage of international lawyers.

Podiatrist Jonathan Bjork has joined Gifford Medical Center’s Randolph and Sharon clinics.

A board-certified podiatrist, he received a BS from St. Olaf College, a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Des Moines University, and completed his Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency at the William S. Middleton VA hospital in Madison Wisconsin.

Dr. Sandra L. Wong, the William W. Coon Professor of Surgical Oncology and Associate Chair of Clinical Affairs at the University of Michigan Health System, has been named Chair of Surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock and the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and Senior Vice President of the Surgical Service Line at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. Her term begins October 26.
