The People’s United Community Foundation, the philanthropic arm of People’s United Bank, announced that it has once again awarded $5,000 to Camp Ta-Kum-Ta in South Hero. This brings the total to over $22,000 in 5 years. For more than two decades, Camp Ta-Kum-Ta has provided a safe, loving place where children who have cancer, or who are in remission, can play, swim, share and heal.

Bread Loaf Corporation has awarded Sophie Ann Saunders, with the Ronald A. Mainelli Memorial Scholarship. Saunders of Middlebury, Vermont will be attending Tufts University in the fall. The Mainelli Scholarship assists a student in preparation for a career in architecture or engineering in the construction industry.

Attorneys Elizabeth K. Rattigan and Willemien Dingemans Miller are new this year to the roster of 19 attorneys at the northern New England law firm Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC who are recognized in Chambers USA 2016. Both attorneys are based in DRM’s Lebanon, N.H., office.

Following a nationwide search, Champlain College has named Bruce D. Bovat of Georgia, Vt., to the position of Director of Campus Public Safety (CPS). The appointment will be effective August 8.

Jeffrey D. McKee, Psy.D. has been promoted to the position of Vice President of Community & Behavioral Health Services at Rutland Regional Medical Center. He has served as Director of Psychiatric Services since 2006.

College of St. Joseph’s James Lambert and Dr. David St. Germain have recently joined the board of directors for the Boys & Girls Club of Rutland County.

Two longtime and widely respected statewide advocates will retire from Vermont Legal Aid (VLA) in the next two months. Trinka Kerr, Vermont’s Chief Health Care Advocate, will retire on August 31 and Jackie Majoros, the State Long Term Care Ombudsman for Vermont, will retire on September 15. Both have worked at VLA throughout their legal careers.
