Gil Livingston, president of the Vermont Land Trust (VLT) for the past 10 years, will be leaving the organization at the end of 2017 to continue meaningful, focused work in the national conservation arena. Gil has been with the land trust for 26 years; in that time he has contributed greatly to the conservation of farmland, forests, and land important for recreation and community.

The Vermont State Colleges Board of Trustees recently honored Castleton History Professor Adam Chill as the VSC Faculty Fellow for the 2017-18 academic year. The fellowship award is given out twice a year and honors tenured faculty who show outstanding accomplishments in teaching and learning.

Catherine Donnelly, a professor in the University of Vermont’s Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences, has won a James Beard Foundation award for her encyclopedic reference work, The Oxford Companion to Cheese, published in November of 2016 by Oxford University Press. The book won in the reference and scholarship category.

Vermont State Colleges System (VSCS) Board of Trustees Chairwoman Martha O’Connor announced today that Governor Scott has appointed Janette Bombardier to the system Board. Bombardier joins the system’s 14-member board that is integrally involved with strategic planning, governance and financial matters for the five-college system.
