Mt Ascutney Hospital and Health Center (MAHHC) recently hosted a gathering of employees and friends at the first annual Nurses Week Awards, which was inaugurated to recognize nursing professionals who go above and beyond for their patients and colleagues. The event was held as part of National Nurses Week, which was celebrated from May 6 to May 12. Light refreshments were served.

Gifford Health Care recently named Ursula Margazano the executive director of Gifford Retirement Community and administrator of Menig Nursing Home. Margazano brings to the role 20 years of long-term care experience in Vermont.

Noted singer-songwriter, author, and community activist Dar Williams will make two appearances at the Chandler Center for the Arts in Randolph this coming Saturday, June 9. Williams will first address a gathering of regional artists, arts presenters, economic development officials, creative economy advocates, and interested community members in Chandler’s Upper Gallery at 3 pm on Saturday.

On Saturday, June 2, Emerson College’s award–winning radio station WERS 88.9 FM hosted its annual WERS Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The event honors Emerson alumni (many of whom worked at the station) who have contributed greatly to the broadcasting industry.

Mobius is excited to announce that its executive director, Chad Butt, has been elected as the 2018 vice-chair of the Mentoring Affiliate Advisory Council (MAAC) for MENTOR (The National Mentoring Partnership). Butt is one of eight members on the council, which is made up of leaders from state or regional affiliates of MENTOR across the country.

Longtime Gifford Health Care Nurse Effie Farnham, whose career spans 51 years, retired in mid-May. Her friends, family, and colleagues will send her off with best wishes at a retirement party Thursday, June 7, marking the beginning of the next chapter in Effie’s community-minded life.

Otter Creek Awnings has been purchased by Kristopher and Sarah Larson of Charlotte, Vermont. Kristopher has worked at Otter Creek Awnings for the past five years, most recently as the Sales Manager. Brattleboro Memorial Hospital (BMH) recently presented the 2018 Employee of the Year Award to two employees - Pamela Amato, Emergency Department Unit Coordinator, and Marcy Moody, Manager of Physician Billing. The annual award is a closely guarded secret until the official announcement at the annual Ice Cream Social held during Hospital Week. Steven R.
