NBT Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Martin Dietrich announced that Matt Durkee has been hired as regional president of NBT Bank’s operations in Vermont. In this position, Durkee will develop and manage all of the bank’s activities in the state. The bank has opened a regional office at 150 Bank Street in Burlington, where Durkee and the team he is assembling will be based.

Dr. Martin Johns of Gifford Medical Center has joined the editorial board of Today’s Hospitalist magazine, a national periodical for hospitalists.

Hospitalists are health care providers who specialize in treating hospitalized patients. Dr. Johns, who is dual board certified as an internist and as a pediatrician, joined Gifford in 2006 as its first hospitalist.

Linda Shiller of Bristol, director of career and education outreach for the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation, was recently honored with an award of excellence from the National College Access Network.

The Five Town Business Council, a division of the Addison County Chamber of Commerce, and the Bristol Recreation Department hosted the Better L8 than Never Car Show in late September. The event featured more than 100 vehicles—from hot rods to 80-year old classics. In addition, there were several antique snowmobiles displayed. The show featured 27 different categories.
