Interstates:
Bethel-Brookfield, I-89 Paving – Motorists should expect grooved pavement, narrow ramp segments, and single-lane closures with speed reductions to 55 mph in both the northbound and southbound portions of the project between Brookfield and Bethel, and on the southbound Exit 4 on- and off-ramps, near active construction operations. Crews will be working Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting.
Brattleboro, I-91 Exit 3 Paving – Tuesday through Friday from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m., Exit 3 on- and off-ramps in both directions will be closed for the application of final pavement. Signed detours will be in place on I-91, U.S. 5, VT 9, and Exits 2 and 4.
Montpelier-Waterbury, I-89 South Paving – Motorists should expect delays Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. due to southbound lane closures from Exit 10 to Exit 8. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph and fines will be doubled.
Newbury-Ryegate, I-91 Paving – Single-lane closures are planned between Exits 16 and 18 on I-91 North for installation of rumble strips, pavement markings, and shoulder work. A speed limit reduction to 55 mph will be in place. Motorists should watch for wet paint.
Rockingham, I-91 Culvert Liner – Drivers should expect one-way alternating traffic with flaggers on Alden Road Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. as needed for access road construction.
Royalton, I-89 Bridge Rehabilitation – Bridge deck, abutment, and pier work will continue near Exit 3, with crossovers, 15-foot width restrictions, and a speed limit of 55 mph in place until fall 2027. Motorists should expect a lane diversion and a speed limit of 30 mph on VT 107, with a 14-foot height restriction under Bridge 26S.
Waterbury-Richmond, I-89 Southbound Paving – Motorists can expect one-lane of travel during daytime working hours, with occasional northbound closures at the U-turns during working hours. Motorists should use both lanes to the merge point and anticipate slow-moving travel, and a milled surface at Exit 10. Please don't follow construction vehicles into the work zone. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph and fines will be doubled.
State Highways:
Barre City, VT 14 and Hill Street Railroad Crossing Improvements – Monday through Friday, Hill Street between VT 14 and Perry Street will be reduced to a single lane from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., with alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers, unless otherwise noted. There is the potential for the roadway to be fully closed on Monday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., with traffic detoured via VT 14 and U.S. 302. Motorists should expect delays and allow extra travel time. Night work will begin on Tuesday and continue through the week, with single-lane closures and alternating one-way traffic on Hill Street between VT 14 and Perry Street. From 7 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Monday, the roadway will be closed to all traffic for railroad crossing reconstruction. Drivers and cyclists will be detoured via VT 14 and U.S. 302, while pedestrians will be detoured via VT 14, Church Street, U.S. 302, and Perry Street. No traffic impacts are expected at the VT 14 railroad crossing until mid-August.
Barre Town, Railroad Crossing Improvements – Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Quarry Hill Road between Fisher Road and Cherrywood Drive will have intermittent single-lane closures with alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers for railroad crossing signal foundation work.
Bennington, VT 9/Main Street Bridge Replacement – Crews will work on substructure repairs adjacent to the new bridge. Motorists should expect daytime lane closures on Main Street, with traffic controlled by signal lights.
Bennington, VT 67A Roundabout Construction – Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., flaggers be stationed periodically at the VT 67A roundabout to control alternating one-way traffic on the VT 67A, Silk Road, Matteson Road, and College Drive approaches, with traffic maintained on the roundabout. Motorists should expect delays and allow extra travel time. Crews will finish installing permanent pavement markings and line striping and conduct general clean-up.
Brattleboro, U.S. 5 Paving – Final pavement is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday night through Friday morning. Flaggers and uniformed traffic officers will direct traffic through single-lane closures from Noah’s Lane to the Bennett Drive intersection. Motorcyclists should watch for uneven surfaces.
Brattleboro, VT 9 Class 1 Paving – Sidewalk work and paving are in progress on VT 9 from the Edward Heights intersection to the I-91 Exit 2 interchange. From 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday night through Friday morning, flaggers will control traffic through single-lane closures. Pedestrians should use caution navigating the work zone.
Bridgewater, VT 100 Bridge Replacement – Drivers should expect daily lane closures with flaggers and short delays through the work zone. The bridge #116 closure is scheduled to start on August 12 and last 40 days.
Castleton-Fair Haven VT 4A Paving – Drivers should expect construction work in Castleton from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. In Fair Haven, drivers should expect night work from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Wednesday and daytime work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. Traffic control will include single-lane closures with flaggers and short delays, as needed. Shoulder closures may also occur intermittently.
Colchester, I-89 Exit 16 Diverging Diamond Interchange – Sunday evening through Friday morning from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., U.S. 2/7 between South Park Drive and Mountain View Drive will have lane closures on alternating sides with traffic shifts and short intermittent stoppages for overhead sign installation. The I-89 South off-ramp will be fully closed at night from Tuesday at 9 p.m. through Wednesday at 6 a.m. and the I-89 North off-ramp will be fully closed at night from Wednesday at 9 p.m. through Thursday at 6 a.m. for overhead sign installation. Motorists will be detoured to Exit 17. Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be single lane closures along either side of U.S. 2/7 between South Park Drive and Mountain View Drive for sidewalk prep, stamped concrete installation, and independent utility work. Thursday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be single lane closures along either side of U.S. 2/7 between Mountain View Drive and Hercules Drive for roadway widening and ditch clean up. Motorists should expect significant delays and rough conditions. Please drive slow, be alert, and consider alternate routes.
Colchester, I-89 Exit 17 Interchange Improvements – Monday through Friday, I-89 near Exit 17 will be reduced to a single-lane in each direction during off-peak hours: from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on I-89 North and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on I-89 South. From 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., lane shifts will be in effect on the U.S. 2 bridge over I-89, with two-way traffic maintained. Crews will complete punch list work, including sealing the bridge and installing expansion joint material at the abutments.
Colchester-Essex, VT 15 Resurfacing Project – For this resurfacing project, motorists will encounter delays with slower travel during nighttime working hours. Two-way traffic is anticipated to be maintained at all times, with lane shifts.
Derby, U.S. 5 and Alt. U.S. 5 Paving – From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, single-lane closures with alternating traffic patterns controlled by flaggers will be in place as needed for punch list work.
Elmore, VT 12 Bridge #90 Replacement – Crews continue to tie and install rebar at the first abutment of the new bridge. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., VT 12 near North Branch Cascades Trail will be reduced to one lane with alternating traffic controlled by flaggers during work hours and a temporary signal otherwise. The speed limit has been reduced to 30 mph through the project area.
Elmore, VT 12 Bridge #94 Replacement – A temporary bridge is open to all traffic through the project area while crews work on grading the roadway. Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., VT 12 near Camp Road will be reduced to one lane with alternating traffic controlled by flaggers. Outside of work hours, both lanes will be open to traffic and controlled by traffic signals. The speed limit has been reduced to 30 mph through the project area.
Georgia-Fairfax, VT 104A Paving – For this resurfacing project between the VT 104A/U.S. 7 intersection in Georgia extending 4.5 miles into Fairfax, Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., motorists can expect delays with traffic control present allowing for alternating one-lane of travel in multiple locations.
Hartford, U.S. 4 Quechee Gorge Bridge Project – Expect delays on Friday 7/24 as workers remove the concrete barrier from the middle of the road and replace it with orange barrels in preparation for paving, which will occur during the week of 7/27. Pedestrians must cross on the south side of the bridge.
Milton, U.S. 7 Intersection Reconfiguration – Alternating one-way traffic will be in effect on U.S. 7 Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with flaggers on-site to guide motorists. Crews will continue removing the concrete slab.
Northfield, VT 12 Retaining Wall Replacement – The southbound lane of VT 12 near the intersection with Town Highway 54 is permanently closed for the construction season. Monday through Friday during work hours, flaggers will maintain alternating traffic patterns and facilitate trucks and equipment entering the work zone. A temporary traffic light remains active at all other times.
Norton, VT 114 Bridge Replacement – For this replacement of bridge #41 over Numbers Brook at MM 3.685, crews will continue to build the approaches for the temporary diversion, and the temporary bridge is scheduled to be in place on Friday 7/31. Motorists should expect alternating one-way traffic guided by flaggers or temporary signals. Use caution on gravel surface.
Norton, VT 114 Culvert Replacement – The traffic pattern will utilize signals and move traffic off the main road and onto a temporary roadway diversion alongside VT 114. Crews will finish installing the stream diversion and begin excavating VT 114 down to the existing culvert. Motorists should be aware of the change in the traffic pattern and use caution when traveling though the project area.
Plainfield, U.S. 2 Slope Remediation – Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., U.S. 2 just west of VT 214 will have single-lane closures with alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers for slope work.
Poultney, Town Highway/South Street Bridge Rehabilitation – Traffic remains shifted to the one-lane temporary bridge, which is open to truck traffic. Temporary signals direct vehicles through the site, with flaggers used as needed during construction activities and truck movements. Crews will remove the remaining painting containment.
Readsboro, VT 100 Bridge Replacement – As part of the bridge replacement over the Deerfield River, crews will continue work on the abutment formwork, reinforcing steel, and pier foundation for the new bridge. The temporary bridge continues to carry travelers over the river.
Ripton, VT 125 Culvert Replacement – The culvert replacement project is underway, and the 12-day closure of VT 125 is scheduled to begin Monday 7/27 at 7 a.m. and be completed on or before 6 p.m. on 8/7. Barricades will be in place east of Upper Plains Road and west of Lincoln Road. A regional detour is signed on U.S. 7, VT 73, and VT 100.
Troy, VT 243 and VT 105 Paving – Single-lane closures with alternating traffic patterns controlled by flaggers will be in place as needed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday for punch list work.
Vershire, VT 113 Bridge Replacement – The contractor will finish pre-drilling of the second abutment next week and will start pile installation on the second abutment by the end of the week, weather permitting. From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., motorists should expect an alternating one-way traffic pattern along VT 113 from MM 4.013 to MM 4.094 controlled by temporary traffic signals.
Williston, VT 2A and Industrial Ave Intersection Roadway Widening – Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., motorists should expect major delays throughout the project area. Drivers should plan extra travel time or use alternate routes. Temporary line striping and barriers will shift traffic on VT 2A between Mountain View Road and River Cove Road. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., single-lane closures with alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers will be in effect along this segment. Crews will conduct paving, roadway widening, and drainage installation on the east side of VT 2A between Mountain View Road and River Cove Road.
Wolcott, School Street Bridge Replacement – The bridge on School Street remains closed to all traffic with a signed detour in place as crews install structural steel. Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., intermittent lane closures are expected on VT 15 and at the intersection of VT 15 and School Street. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers.
