Vermont Business Magazine Eric Covey has been appointed Executive Director of VNAs of Vermont, the association for Vermont’s eight local, non-profit home health and hospice agencies. Eric has served as Interim Executive Director since October of 2025, and was previously the association’s Director of Communications, Policy, and Regulatory Affairs.
“The VNAs of Vermont member home health and hospice agencies provide exceptional care that our families, neighbors, and loved ones across the state depend on to heal or age in their homes,” said Eric. “I am honored to be appointed as Executive Director for VNAs of Vermont at this critical juncture in Vermont’s health care transformation efforts. As Executive Director I will continue to raise awareness about the essential role VNAs of Vermont member agencies play in lowering health care costs and improving access to care for Vermonters.”
Eric is a demonstrated leader in health care policy, strategic advocacy, and communications. He has a track record of bringing policy leaders and experts together to find and advocate for policies that support home health and hospice care in Vermont. Prior to working at VNAs of Vermont Eric served as Chief of Staff to Vermont Secretary of State Jim Condos.
Before that he held various roles working in health care policy, from overseeing a statewide health care consumer assistance program to advocating for access to reproductive health care. He has served in multiple roles in Vermont state government and enters the role of Executive Director of VNAs of Vermont with a unique perspective on Vermont’s policy and regulatory environment.
“Eric is poised to lead and support the VNAs of Vermont vision and support our goals for growth,” said Christine Werneke, President and COO of UVM Health – Home Health and Hospice, who serves as President of the VNAs of Vermont Board of Directors. “As Interim Executive Director Eric navigated complex issues facing the home health and hospice industry, and demonstrated his ability to effectively represent home and community care with our stakeholders, partners, and policy makers.”
In his previous role as Interim Executive Director Eric oversaw the association’s legislative and regulatory advocacy, provided exceptional direct support to member agencies individually and collectively, and strengthened organizational relationships with key state officials, legislators, and partner organizations.
