Vermont Business Magazine The Attorney General's Office announced today that two defendants were sentenced in separate cases involving possession of child sexual abuse material.
Adam Gagnon, 28, of Orwell, Vermont, was sentenced Mondayday in Vermont Superior Court, Addison Criminal Division, after pleading guilty to three felony counts of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Materials.
The Court, Judge Allison Arms presiding, sentenced Mr. Gagnon to three to 15 years in prison, all suspended, with a 10-year term of probation. Conditions of Mr. Gagnon’s probation require him to complete sex offender programming, prohibit contact with children, and restrict access to the internet.
If Mr. Gagnon violates the terms of his probation, he faces up to 15 years in jail. Mr. Gagnon is also required to register as a sex offender for 10 years following the completion of his sentence.
Joshua Pierce, 35, of Northfield, Vermont, was sentenced Monday in Vermont Superior Court, Washington Criminal Division, after pleading guilty to one felony count of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material.
The Court, Judge Michael Harris presiding, sentenced Mr. Pierce to one year to five years in prison, all suspended, with an eight-year term of probation. Conditions of Mr. Pierce’s probation require him to complete sex offender treatment, prohibit contact with children under the age of 16, and restrict access to electronic devices.
If Mr. Pierce violates the conditions of his probation, he faces up to five years in prison. Mr. Pierce is also required to register as a sex offender for 10 years following the completion of his sentence.
